Use this checklist whenever you order from an overseas store through a courier.

1. Make sure you have the correct courier address

Do not reuse an address from an old screenshot if you have access to a live customer dashboard. Warehouse routes can change. Copy the current address exactly as displayed in your account.

Your customer identifier helps separate your package from the many other parcels arriving at the same warehouse. Check the final checkout screen to make sure the suite or code is still visible.

3. Estimate the courier cost

Look at the product weight and size before buying. A low-cost item can become expensive to ship if it is heavy or bulky. Use the current Legacy Shipping rates page as a planning tool.

4. Think about Customs before buying

Jamaica Customs currently states that goods valued at US$100 or less on FOB value generally fall within the de minimis threshold. Above that amount, duties and taxes may apply. Some items also need permits or have special import requirements.

5. Check whether the item is restricted

Do not assume that because a U.S. store sells an item it can automatically be transported or imported into Jamaica. Batteries, chemicals, aerosols, weapons, certain foods, medicines and other regulated goods can have special requirements.

6. Save your invoice and tracking number

The invoice supports the declared value, while the tracking number helps identify the physical shipment. Keep both until the package has been collected or delivered.

7. Use Pre-Alert when appropriate

Submitting the invoice and tracking details through the Pre-Alert tool gives the courier useful information before the package reaches later processing stages.

8. Watch for split shipments

One online order can arrive in several boxes. Amazon, Temu, SHEIN and other retailers may assign different tracking numbers to different parts of the same checkout. Each physical package can have its own courier record and charge.

9. Follow courier status after warehouse delivery

Once the U.S. carrier completes delivery, switch your attention to your courier dashboard. That is where customer-facing package status, charges and later actions are most useful.

10. Decide how you want to receive the package

When the package becomes eligible, review the available pickup or delivery options in your customer account.
